Where this differs from a cloud instance

A dedicated server is rented as the whole chassis. Processor, memory and disks stay on that one machine, split with nobody else and counted by no oversold ratio.

Several sites, a Proxmox host or a database can all live on the same box. The processor is an AMD EPYC 7543P, Zen 3, 2.8–3.7 GHz, 256MB L3. Apart from memory the two tiers are identical.

  • One tenant per machine
  • Memory is DDR4-3200 ECC RDIMM
  • Ubuntu 24.04 by default

Whole machine against oversold shares

A dedicated server is counted as one chassis. An oversold cloud instance is counted as a share of a host, so the resource boundary sits in a different place.

Dedicated server

  • One tenant per machine
  • Processor, memory and NVMe stay on this chassis
  • Billed as one whole-machine rent

For comparison

Oversold cloud instance

  • Compute and storage arrive as a share
  • Many instances sit on a single host
  • A busy neighbour competes for the same silicon

Two tiers, everything else shared

128GB and 256GB run the same processor, the same pair of disks and the same default line.

Memory is the only difference

Rent follows the catalogue. Modules cannot be added once the order is placed, so 256GB has to be picked at checkout.

Two disks, not a mirror

2×1TB NVMe with no hardware RAID. Each disk is direct-attached and 2TB is usable, rather than the 1TB a RAID-1 pair would leave. Software RAID and backups are arranged by the tenant.

One system per order

Free images carry no surcharge and default to Ubuntu 24.04. Windows Server is priced per edition, with the language set at checkout.

Four prepaid terms

  1. Monthly1 month

The amount due is the monthly rent times the number of months, with no discount. Add-ons are prepaid on the same term as the machine.

Workloads that sit on a whole machine

Two memory tiers and a single system choice cover the work already running on these boxes.

  1. Multiple sites and virtualisation

Proxmox VE 8 / 9 sits in the free image list. Several sites can share one dedicated machine, with two direct-attached NVMe disks underneath them.

  2. Databases and middleware

32 cores with 128GB or 256GB DDR4-3200 ECC RDIMM. Larger memory means the 256GB tier, since modules cannot be added once the order is placed.

  3. Work that needs its own address

The facility is Tokyo, Japan. Rent includes one IPv4, and further addresses are sold one at a time rather than as a subnet bundle.

  4. Windows workloads

Windows Server Standard is $18.1 a month and Datacenter $31.8 a month. Editions are 2019, 2022 and 2025, and access is over RDP.

What the monthly rent already states

Everything below ships with both tiers. Added bandwidth, disks and addresses are priced separately and stay outside the base rent.

Where the facility is

Servers are deployed in Tokyo, Japan. Default bandwidth is 250 Mbps unmetered and one IPv4 is included. There is no setup fee, and rent starts on a monthly term.

Linux is reached over SSH. Windows Server is reached over RDP.

Common questions

Can memory be added after the order?

No. The two tiers differ only in memory, so 256GB means picking AMD EPYC 7543P · 256GB at checkout.

Is bandwidth metered?

No. 250 Mbps, 1 Gbps and 2 Gbps are all unmetered.

Is there a setup fee?

There is no setup fee and no contract. Rent starts on a monthly term; quarterly, semiannual and annual terms are prepaid by month count.

Rent starts at $454.8 a month

Two tiers, 128GB and 256GB, both on 2×1TB direct NVMe.
